1946 - 2004
Capt. Walter Mitchell Jr. passed away April 24, 2004 after a battle with cancer. He left behind a loving family that includes his wife, three daughters, their spouses, and seven grandchildren.
Walter was one of the founding members of the Belleville Volunteer Fire Department. He served as Asst. Chief at one point. He was the chief mechanic and was an active member of the department board.
From 1972 until his retirement in 2002, Walter owned and operated his own business, Mitchell Well Drilling.
Walter loved hunting. During deer season, if he was not working, he was hunting. It was figured that he had killed over 700 deer during his 58 years.
Walter will be and is missed. He will always be in the hearts and minds of all the members of the Belleville Fire Department.
